PREFACE: THIS MAP DOESN'T COUNT

During the credits for this episode, they do a zoom out from the living room to a picture of the earth. This picture is a screen cap with an overlay of one of the CGHMN maps. As you can see, the map from the episode is quite inaccurate. Due to this inaccuracy, this will not be used as evidence for our search.

You really CAN'T match the two maps up. Some people might think "Heck - I could get those maps to match up - just rotate a bit, zoom a bit..." Well just forget it. The map is already distorted enough as it is. Remember, this was a fake map drawn by a cartoonist, not a professional cartographer.

Additionally, Richard took the video this screen capture was from and by figuring out how many times things become half their size (IE how many times the camera zooms out by 2x) found that the earth's diameter is ~16384 times the width of the Simpson's house. If the diameter of the earth is 7926 miles, then the Simpson's house is 2554 feet wide. Thus the Simpson's house is too large in comparison to the planet, and the video is not accurate.

An additional reason for exclusion is the fact that this is a passive reference to a state:
A direct reference would be either:
--A character specifically talking about a state
--The State was written out, be it a street sign or otherwise, in such a way as to make one believe that it is referring to a state other than the one they are currently in.

So if this doesn't count toward episode exclusions, what's the point of posting it?

This goes to prove that the Simpsons _ARE_ in the United States. Some people have put forth the idea that they are in another country. Granted, this is a rather asinine idea. However, I have heard it several times.
